Run it twice before you run it once.
A small circuit, run perfectly and then run the way a noisy machine would run it. The gap between the two is the number worth looking at.
What this is, and is not
- It is a simulator on an ordinary computer. There is no quantum hardware here, and nothing is submitted to any.
- The perfect run is exact. For circuits this small the answer is arithmetic, not an estimate — the tests check it against textbook values.
- The noisy run is a model, not a machine. It uses round numbers that resemble real hardware. We have never compared it against a real device.
- Small only. Memory doubles with every qubit, so this stops at 16.
The circuit
The question is locked
While shortening a circuit it is easy to quietly change what you were asking — the electron count, the geometry. Then the depth improves and the answer looks better, and you have solved a different problem. This stops that.
The two runs
Perfect
Exact arithmetic.
